The Garden Gate

This is a drawing done by a local artist Jim Knoke's who actually built this garden gate out of iron leading to our front door.
The artist sketches are as beautiful as the gate he built.
I asked him if he could create the Kiwi leaves coming down the gate out of old rusty steel.
He hadn't done this type of project before,
but cherished the challenge.
I sent him pictures of actual Kiwi leaves and he made patterns of them to place on steel.
He made sure the edges of the leaves would be safe
with no cutting edges.
A one of a kind masterpiece of art.
It's a beautiful gate no matter what the season is.

Step by step

Yesterday I dug up the squash plants, and put in the yard debris pile
Today I dug up the sage plants and put in the window boxes
Tomorrow I'll weed this bed
Today I transplanted the sage plants into the window boxes and watered
Today I'll find some fall flowers to add to the window boxes
On Friday Eric will load up all the yard debris I've been adding to the pile into the trailer.

cleaning up for fall

The 5 window boxes needed a bit of work.
Each having 3 geraniums each that had been cut down and are growing back.
All the other plants in the boxes died during the window replacement project.
I transplanted the geraniums into other pots that will be put in the green house during the winter. We will see if I can overwinter them.

mean while I have 5 empty window boxes that will be hung back on the house today or tomorrow. Depends on how the evening goes.

The window guy is coming back tomorrow to show us the indoor window options. Then schedule that part of the job. Maybe I will have contractors back sooner than I thought.

Picked cucumbers in the garden.

Watering desperate neglected plants.
